Parrot Pattern Button Up Mola Shirt * Material: 100% Cotton * Condition: Brand New with Tags, Unworn * Fit: 27" top-bottom, 21.5" arm pit-arm pit * Handmade by Kuna women (Sourced by My Name is Panama) * Appliqué, offers parrot and geometric pattern * Statement Piece This mola shirt was purchased on a visit to the Panama Canal in the 1990s. It was supposed to be gifted to a friend, but we never got to it! The shirt is a great statement piece crafted with beautiful handwork. Background: The mola or molas, forms part of the traditional outfit of a Kuna woman in Panama. Molas are often used as “living history books”, showing hidden symbols of medical plants, protective symbols, or legends and stories. They are handmade using a reverse appliqué technique.
