Vintage Bookend Tragedy offers Chalkware Jester Figurine Universal Statuary

This is a fun chalkware bookend, unmarked but made by Universal Statuary. It is made of chalkware type plaster but with a smooth exterior, almost like Ivorex. It is made in the form of a Jester holding up a Greek tragedy mask and seated in front of a book with a heading of Tragedy. It measures 6 1/2” in height, 6 1/2” in width and 5 1/2” in depth and weighs 4 lbs and 2 oz. He has a couple of issues - a chip at the lower left back bottom corner (see last close-up photo), and wear to the top corners and the ball at the centre of the jester's hat. This is a wonderful display piece, even offers if you don't use him as a bookend!
