Antique offers Schafer & Vater Hair Receiver

Beautiful, early 20th century antique hair receiver from Schafer & Vater. Sort of a combination of Wedgwood's classical motifs and art nouveau style, this box's design features a woman seated beside a cherub. Fired from pink jasperware. Women used to save the hair from their brushes and combs and offers use it to make a “rat” with which to bolster their hairdos, and that is what this box was for.
