I have made traditional stoneware piggy banks for years and the inspiration for other animals comes from those.

The turtle's body was thrown on a pottery wheel offers. I added the turtle's features by hand and carved the design on the turtle's back. A variety of glazes were applied and the turtle was fired in a kiln. The coin slot is large enough to shake your savings out eliminating the need for a cork or stopper.
